Book Addict Wonders : Read Count Cheats

Its almost the end of the year and with that comes to a stop the Goodreads yearly book challenge. Regardless of what goal you’ve set, there might be a slight chance that you are lagging behind, far far behind. Like me. Well not really far behind, but the first half of the year flew past and now there’s over 20 books to read in 3 months. Sounds easy, right? Actually its not, when you are juggling exams, assignments, shifting into a new house and other commitments. So what do I do to increase that devious little blue read count bar and catapult myself to having completed 90% of the challenge? Hmm, hmm *ponder*

READ GRAPHIC NOVELS! Yes, very sly, aren’t I? It is not like I wasn’t planning to read graphic novels. Who doesn’t like books with pictures? But now, I get to run through a couple of volumes in a day, thereby increasing the read count within few days. And now I am 3 books ahead of time! Not the best work  of deception, but ah, well! Don’t like graphic novels or comics? READ BOOKS PART OF THE SCHOOL/UNIVERSITY REQUIRED READING! One stone, two birds. I haven’t gotten around to reading the books I need to for my end semesters! But it sure is a time saving tactic. What better way to add books to your “read pile” and get a good head start on your academics.

You probably do this too. So no genius-idea-creating-scenes there,  but I am much closer to accomplishing the challenge of reading 50 books for the year 2014 now that I have such schemes up my sleeves. How far have you gotten?

P.s – I am now going to sign off using my real name, as opposed to “Mia” which I’ve been using till now. Good day people!

  1. I’ve been counting books I’ve had to read for uni, since I’ve read them and spent time on them, I figure they should count!
I’m on 44 of 70 right now, somehow 7 books behind. It feels like I’ve been 7 books behind from day 1! Probably because I lost reading time while on holidays in March.

Meera is such a pretty name =)

    1. They so totally count! Especially when you have to read volumes of classics. This semester I have The Color Purple by Alice Walker and I haven’t read it yet
That is good progress, particularly since your aim is to finish 70.. I am barely managing 50 😀

      Thank you! 🙂
