Notes on Nationalism by George Orwell

A nonfiction book that treads through concepts such as nationalism and patriotism, Notes on Nationalism is a quick read. It uses real-world case studies to expand on our understanding of how these systems affect individuals and societies at large.

Having read both Animal Farm and 1984, I was keen to pick up another Orwell title. This is a bite-sized book that contains a wealth of knowledge.

I read it in a little over an hour and you too can finish it one sitting if the topic interests you.

Granted that I found it to be a little overwhelming in parts because of the rapid speed with which the author moves through the explanations.

If you don’t have a lot of knowledge of world history or politics, it could be more confounding for you. That said, you’ll still be able to grasp the general essence of what Orwell is trying to convey.

All in all, this is certainly one of the most insightful Penguin Minis I’ve read.
