We, the human race, have reached such a point in our existence that life in fiction seems more livable as compared to reality. How did a people that were meant to live in love and peace, with the occasional conflict ofcourse, grow so abstruse as to live for inflicting pain. How were morals decided upon while overlooking certain immoralities and to what benefit? Was it to test one’s emotional capabilities or to venture into new levels of ruthlessness?

There’s so much happening nowadays that makes no sense. I have no shame in admitting that an apocalypse is almost as exciting a future to imagine as any evolution we might be subjected to. What will we be like, after a life altering incident befalls us? Perhaps a little less selfish. Maybe a lot more worth being written about. Last semester I did a research paper, in college, on the symbolism of dystopia in today’s world. And truth be told, no place on Earth exactly claims to be a perfect world but we all have hope. To lead a life where the suffering in society would be minimized. Where despite whatever obstacles stand in our way, each of us have a sure-fire way of attempting to get past. But that’s totally not the case now. We fight and create issues when there ought to be none. Its imbecilic really – the thoughts that some people dare to utter out loud. With no foundation in their understanding, it is but natural that they would be the ones to make our world more of a dystopia.
When all seems to be going haywire, we have the tendency to believe in the impossible. Wishing that something impossible would intervene, would save those in need. I do see more truth in dystopia while holding hope for an alternative universe. Slowly, our race is losing what makes it human. Slowly, we will be just another species, in a galaxy of possibilities, who lost what was precariously handed down to them.
I hope that never happens. For your sake and for mine.
