Where are my ball gowns?

I spent the last twenty something days immersed in an Austen novel. It was bound to have its effects on me, like any other book would’ve. This time only furthering my fondness for a Victorian manner of living – attending balls, wearing gowns and travelling in carriages through dense vegetation only to arrive at a “cousin’s” manor located miles away. I don’t know at what point I began liking such totally contrasting aspects of life, but if given a time traveller I’d race back to that era without a doubt. Albeit only to spend a day or two since I wouldn’t give up this century and all its perks for much longer than that. Two days away from technology, I can manage, trying on corsets and being ladylike for a change.

I particularly love the masquerade parties that they used to have in large halls teeming with women in curly updos and men in shiny tuxedos. Not once have I had the chance to attend a masquerade party. Not many people take it seriously, atleast here in India. Boohoo! Once we were going to arrange for our class (in college) get together to be themed masquerade but so many people refused to get even a mask that it was all really pointless. And then my hopes came crashing down. Anyhow, one fine May day I will host a party wherein all the pretty ladies shall be clad in hair wreaths and billowy dresses; the guys in whatever suits em best and we shall all hop and leap with our arms around each other , the way Irish dances go. Or atleast get as close to that picture as presently possibly 😛

Not to forget the long lasting selfie sessions before and after the dancing. After all, hair wreaths and dresses only call for a hundred or so photos taken in multiple ways.  And so I shall satisfy my curiosity. One day. All in good time. 😀

Before I begin sketching gowns on my study material, I should get started on absorbing some of what my college professors tried (barely) to instil in us.
